It must be Spring, now that the chicks are hatching, or rather unstitching from the needles. It’s a time of new birth, possibly of new initiatives, new ideas. We have heard of the possibility of a Litter Church starting soon, where upon a Sunday morning, people could go out and collect litter from their street, have a cuppa, build a stronger community. What are your thoughts about that?
Would they need to sing or say a prayer? Could it be about pondering upon an issue. It might spring a connection.
Spiritual Connection
We listened to an individual who has no connection to Church recently. He spoke of a ‘higher being’ as one who connects with them in a spiritual sense. This may not be God as we might associate; nevertheless, it is one of a higher presence. How often we hear that the world has moved away from a spiritual understanding, but then we discern that there is a connection. I wonder if we might consider that there is a barrier, which we might ourselves, between Church and those who don’t explicitly believe in the God we understand.
This Fairy Door was found in a local woodland. Might we retreat from such spirituality, when here is an opening discussion towards is there more to life than what we see? It might spring a connection.
Bon Jovi
There is a song “Livin’ on a Prayer” which has a chorus:
Woah, we’re halfway there
Woah-oh, livin’ on a prayer
Take my hand, we’ll make it, I swear
Woah-oh, livin’ on a prayer
Perhaps if we can offer our hand, we can start that conversation with livin’ on a prayer?
Buchanan Street – Good Friday
Our attempts at providing sufficient chicks to be able to give away a knitted chick with a Creme Egg on Buchanan Street on Good Friday is coming on well. To accompany the eggs, we are also offer thousands of individually bagged ( for Covid) Hot Cross Buns for those passers by. We have been offered a rabbit, where an egg can be added; however, the hedgehog has yet to have the capability of an egg. We have around 50 chicks currently – if we could reach a peep or flock or brood of chicks around 90 we can supply them all with Creme Eggs. It might spring a connection, what do you think?
I remember how popular it was in Todmorden when we (the local methodist church) went into town and gave out creme eggs to people on the market and around town. It was really special to see people’s faces when they received something for nothing. Well done for the initiative Beacon Bob!! With Blessings from Meg Kennedy. X
I remember that well Meg. When we share our faith in practical ways people see God’s love and we see God in them x
I found the dialogue interesting
