That might be the closest we will get to a hug for a while…

CO 19 (or an odd number of sts) *Slip the first stitch of every row.* Row 1 & 2: K all sts Row 3: K1, P1 across Row 4: P1, K1 across Row 5: P1, K1 across Row 6: K1, P1 across Work rows 3 to 6 for required length. Last 2 Rows: K BO Center 2 buttons on one end and secure. On other end, using contrast color and working front to back, pull yarn loop though and chain about 2”. Double it back and slip st it beside starting point. Trim and pull tail thorough loop to secure, make knot.

They could leave it in the packaging for 72 hours plus to minimise the threat from Covid.
