Being Enough

Often we can feel that we are not enough. Paul writes in one of his letters to the Corinthians “We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.” So we are enough. Often we hear ‘scripts’ which run in our heads – possibly at night, which tell us otherwise. But God speaks that we are enough. We had a service called Walking in the Darkness which highlighted that we might be influenced by those voices but need to listen to God. The quilted embroidery, shown right, acts as a way of seeing, touching the world – re-engaging with God’s world.

We pray for those who may feel crushed or struck low – you are enough, you are loved.

How might you describe God?

Many those outside of Church might describe God is male, with a long white beard and old. We, in discussion, saw God has gender full, as a form of characteristics of love and compassion and also sadness. Some couldn’t even draw God, akin to how Muslims will not draw an image of God.

A headline from last week stated that God has left Mariupol – perhaps humanity has been evicted but God hasn’t left the devastated city. God will be in the rebirth of communities, especially those in the bomb shelter.

Those people need to know that they are enough.

Hot Cross Buns

We have noticed that shops are extending the huge variety of Hot Cross Buns. There are Marmite flavoured Hot Cross Buns, as well as Chocolate, Apple in addition of the spiced fruited kind. Is that variety ‘being enough’? Which are your favourite?
