We met again as a group of dispersed members of the Strathclyde Methodist Church, to be as one, to reflect on the news coming from Ukraine. For those families in Kharkiv, Dnipro and Kyiv, for those who are escaping the carnage, looking to leave the country, their country, to neighbouring lands – some without father figures, husbands, partners, sons – Lord, have mercy, may they have hope. Amen
In a surreal time, when we live connected to their world via the internet, we may struggle to walk in their shoes. Some of their journeys have been overnight, for miles and miles.
We may feel that we limit our own exposure to the latest news. As Pilate said “What is truth?” resonates strongly here, as it would seem that the Russian population is being told that this is a specific military operation in the separatist areas; so what are we being told?
Easter
Our world is one where we may knit or sew a chick, ready for Easter. That also may bring hope for some. This is only one aspect of our love for others – we may well do more over the next few weeks and months – for this crisis is not going away soon. What might bring hope to some?
We may well find that there are opportunities to donate clothing in the future?
