Storm Arwen has been and left a frosty covering everywhere. I wonder what might have happened to those glass slippers that Cinderella wore? I doubt there was much of a grip afforded by such a shiny smooth sole. Perhaps she needs to pop out to a Black Friday sale! They are everywhere. What would Jesus have seen in Black Friday? Would it really be Jesus Saves, We spend?
We are so grateful for the knitted angels which are starting to bedeck the house. They are preparing to fly over to Pollokshaws Methodist Church for Saturday 11th December for the Blue Angels service.
Cinderella Dolls
We have received 3 knitted Cinderella Dolls, where one depicts Cinderella in her rags, whilst turn her around and she is in her glad rags! Even the face changes, from a frown to a smile!
Storm Arwen
The weather was said to be a great hazard but the Storm passed down the east coast, mostly missing us in Glasgow. It seems however to have affected us differently even across Strathclyde. Some had snow, some had very strong winds whilst others were merely very cold. Some areas of Glasgow were affected by a loss of electricity, which with the cold must have been difficult. The weather seemed to have affected areas as far as the South West of England.
Black Friday Sales
We wondered whether the sales were as good as they described. Many of us were not very happy with actually going into the shops. The Omicron variant might be a factor from now on.
Some felt that this image was disgusting. It crosses the line between Jesus being crucified and our desire to spend. There was no connection – or is there? Why not add your thoughts in the comments below.
There is also a tendency for some sellers to offer to buy now and pay for it later. Fortunately when we recently visited a public toilet recently we were only offered a pay electronically option. Hence flash your credit card or your phone over the device and 30p would be taken so you could spend a penny. “Every Little Helps!”
Keeping people warm
It was great to know that the Circuit collected over 1,000 coats for the refugees recently. It does show that people can be so generous regardless of what others might criticise the migrant situation. Here is a great site about Refugees and some background information. I am not biased at all as I taught one of the statisticians when they were at school!
Christmas and 2022
Many of us are starting to plan for Christmas and beyond. Some are considering going abroad on holiday, searching for the warmer weather no doubt – as if Glasgow doesn’t offer such glories!! Some are looking forward to being with loved ones, we hope that this recent Covid variant doesn’t impact upon us.
Glass Fusion
Next Monday we are joined by Rachel Parkinson who will explain via Zoom the delights of Glass Fusion. Is this really possible without great expense? Is it beyond my capabilities? Or could it really be something I could manage and it might offer new opportunities for my imagination to blossom?
I found the dialogue very interesting
