This week’s story comes from Luke 9:51-62 and is all about whether we should smite others. Now, like the Vikings, we all like a bit of smiting, don’t we? What was good for Sodom and Gomorrah, might be good today? err, no.
Three people are in this scene with Jesus. One wants to follow him anywhere, and Jesus tells him that life is going to be tough. Two others have diaries which full to bursting and can’t seem to find anytime to fit God into their busy lives. Have we been there? I have.
Well, tomorrow, I hope to be ordained as a Christian Minister. Will my life change at all after that?
Are we really all on a journey, and our life continues onwards, seeking God. Perhaps we might not give up everything except privilege and power, so we can love one another?
